FACING THE SUN
Written by Katherine. F
Overwhelmed with the treachery in life, she turned her face to the sun in a practical act of self preservation. She needed to feel connected, to something or someone. The warmth of the sun on her skin and the sting of the suns rays in her eyes reminded her she was alive. She was still here. Every fiber of her being was pervaded by a state of languor, of listless indolence. Her thoughts were scrambled, rushing forward, rushing back. She was desperately searching for reason and resolution all at the same time and wondered how she would muster the strength to forge ahead. How she might navigate the perplexities placed before her and emerge at the other end in tact.
She opened her eyes again and noticed the sun filtering through the leaves of the tree just outside the window. She noticed a little hummingbird just hovering outside the window. It hovered before her for the longest time and seemed to be as interested in her as she was in it. This was the connection she needed. This tiny, sweet little jewel of nature had visited her at the window and in its wake had filled her heart with hope and joy.
Look for the beauty in the spaces in between.
If we could all just do this we would learn to restore our faith and hope in life itself.
